Welcome to my library

This is a bookstand, standing entrance when you walk into my library.

My brother-in-law Phil crafted it out of black walnut and ash. There are 5 adjustable shelves to hold books. It can swivel around on its rotating base. Currently, it is holding the book ” Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello, a Photographic Portrait” by Robert C Lautman, 1997. I bought the book after visiting Monticello. I showed Phil a picture in this book, of a book rack setting on a table in Jefferson’s study.

I asked if he could build one. The result is a beautiful piece of furniture. Now I use it to display books in my home library. The walls are lined with bookcases. filled with lovely books. So many books, that there is not room for them all. I have more book cases in the house, one each in the two guest bedrooms; two in the downstairs living room; and there is my ‘library annex’, a store room that I has 8 other bookcases. Still, there are a few piles of books on my desk, waiting to be read, and filed away.

Please enjoy this stand-as well as the books showcased-as I post post stories and highlight books from my library. Hopefully, you will find the journey entertaining. I will, re-acquainting myself with some great books. There are topics to research, re-reading some books, and sometimes I even get to buy more books to help an upcoming story.  Sometimes, connections from one book to another, just come to me when reading. Too often books get put into library tombs. I plan on showcasing library tomes.

Happy reading.
