October 13 “a buzzworthy day”

October 13th, 1792 is the day the cornerstone was placed in the White House. I have an interesting book on the White House. It is the pop-up, simply called “The White House” by Chuck Fischer, printed 2004.

This is a suprisingly detailed book about the history and architecture of the White House. It also has a great variety of movable pages and different types of pop-ups. It is interesting not just on unusual tidbits about the White House, but of all the different ways to move and project, with pop-ups. This is definitely a quality book.

October 13th is Father and Daughter Day (Second Sunday in October). I have several books, several authors. First is “The Expanse of Heaven” by Richard Proctor, 1874. The second “Giant Sun and His Family” by Mary Proctor 1906. Mary was Richard’s daughter, also an astronomer. She shared her father’s training and love for stars. Mary wrote several books for young readers, helping their enthusiasm with astronomy.

October 13 is No Bra Day. This is not just a ‘free the girls’ day, it is also a way to promote awareness during Breast Cancer Month. I have an interesting book “No Lumps, Thank You. A bra anthologie” by Meg Spielman Peldo, 2012. While this may seem like a bra book, it is really just art resembling bras-so no bras. Books like this one will always have a place in my library.

Let me show just a few. This one is titled ‘Melons’

This is titled ‘Hot Ta-Tas!’

‘flat as a pancake’

‘nice rack’

‘sports bra’

How do you scare a bee? You walk up behind it and shout “Boo, Bee!”

Any more, and I might get in trouble. Thanks for reading…or just looking at the pictures…
