National Farmer’s Day is October 12. While I have a lot of farming books, especially from the Orange Judd Publisher, they all give details on how to grow, or raise various, groves, fields, or animal products. They are all work-related for farmers. We need to thank farmers for their hard work.
I have several books that are more entertaining. The first being Farm Ballads: by Will Carleton, published in 1873. This book has wonderful poems, and many illustrations of the farm and rural life.

The next book is “Farm Festivals” also by Will Carleton, published in 1881. This has more stories and poems of rural farm life. There are more wonderful illustrations. (Truth be known, when rereading this one, I noticed that he had written a third book-Farm Legends. I tracked a copy down and ordered it.)
Great mail day! Today I recieved the book “Farm Legends” published 1876. I now have all three ‘Farm’ books by Will Carleton, all published over 140 years ago.

The first Octoberfest was October 12, 1810. The festival was held to celebrate the marriage of Crown Prince Ludwig of Bavaria and Princess Therese von Sachsen-Hildburghausen. Have a few steins from my first visit to Germany. The left stein is all of the beers made in Munich-home of the Octoberfest. The center is a stein commemorating Prince Ludwig of Bavaria (and Neuschwanstein Schloss-the fairytale castle), and the third is a stein with the coat of arms of Bavaria.

National Motorcycle Ride Day is October 12th (the Second Saturday in October). First, one shouldn’t be doing an Octoberfest beer crawl when riding a motorcycle. Second, my son and brother-in-law both have styled-up Low Rider Harley Davidsons. They will be taking rides today, so I will show “Harley Davidson, the Legend” by Grant Leonard, 1996.

It has been great traveling to different events with you today.
P.S. October 12, White House was named the White House by Teddy Roosevelt. His stationary was printed “The White House-Washington”. I will talk a little more about the White House tomorrow.
