September 28th is National Hunting and Fishing Day. It is celebrated on the fourth Saturday in September. I have a bunch of hunting and fishing books, but I like this collection of hunting, fishing, and outdoor lore and profit makers all published by A.R. Harding. Some of them are unusual, as well as old. All of them are interesting. When I am ready to give them up, they will go to a hunting and fishing enthusiast, my son. He has also instilled the outdoor life to my grandkids.
The first row of books are: ‘Hunting Dogs” published 1909; “Home Manufacture of Furs and Skins” 1916; Fur Buyer’s Guide” 1915. The second row is “Practical Muskrat Raising” 1927; “Fur Farming” 1936; and “Mink Raising” 1935. Each book gives great advice on its topic.

The next group are “3001 Questions and Answers” (about trapping and hunting) published 1913; “Pearls and Pearling” (about hunting for pearls) published 1913; “Deadfalls & Snares” 1935; “Camp and Trail Methods” 1933; “Science of Fishing” 1933; and “Ginseng, and Other Medicinal Plants” (A good book on how to hunt down, and then sell ginseng roots.) 1936.

I am still looking for more books by this publisher. When I give them to my son for his hunting room, I hope to have the entire set. While they are old books, and have some archaic stories, they are all very interesting to read; and should look pretty cool in a hunting room on a desk, or a shelf under a prize mount.
This is “The 50 Greatest Cartoons, as Selected by 1,000 Animation Professionals”, edited by Jerry Beck, 1998. This is a great book naming what professionals in the cartoon business thought were the top fifty cartoons. Not the top performers, but the actual top fifty cartoons that were made.

Number 30 was “Rabbit Seasoning” by Warner Brothers, 1953. It included Elmer Fudd, Daffy Duck, and Bugs Bunny.

My dad was a hunter and fisherman. I have been know to pull a trigger, and drown a worm, and my son is a hunter and fisherman. For fishing, we use my back yard (and also when camping). For hunting, we use Andy’s father-in-law’s back yard and property. Last year was his first buck with bow hunting.
This weekend we are camping and fishing. Next weekend will be bow hunting. Not for wascally wabbits, but for that big buck.

P.S. Happy Hunting
