National Zookeeper Week is celebrated the third week in July. This year July 21-July 27. I have an interesting book “Zoo: A Behind-the-Scenes Look at the Animals and the People Who Care for Them” by Don Gold, 1988. This is an indepth look at the Lincoln Park Zoo in Chicago, and how things work. Hats off to zookeepers.

I have another interesting book about unusual animals “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” by Newt Scamander. Newt would champion many not well understood animals, and work on protecting them. He even had several movies written about his work.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows was released in hardcover on 21 July 2007 . This was the beginning of the end for me. I had been ordering these books online to get them on release day. I had a competition with my nieces to read these books when they came out.

It was during book three or four, that they had brought one of these Harry Potter books with them, reading one vacation. Curious, I read a little, and ran to the library to read the first one. I then bought the first several books to get caught up. We all together then anxiously waited for each next volume to be released so we could crash read, and then discuss with each other. They thought they had a cool uncle. I thought they had turned me on to some wonderful stories.
While we each quickly tore into that last book, preparing to read all night, it was sad when it ended. Oh, well. On to the next adventure.
You must admit that Harry Potter is a myst-Sirius novel at times.
