Today April 10th, is National Siblings Day. As the oldest, I suppose I should be the first to welcome my younger siblings. Damn kid brothers and sister-don’t cramp my style…

“Oh, Brother! Oh, Sister!” by Phyllis Halloran, 1989. Signed by author to our mother during a college Masters seminar. It is how to deal with the joys and problems of brothers and sisters. Why would she give it to me????

“Brother Eagle, Sister Sky” is a message from Chief Seattle, with paintings by Susan Jeffers, 1991. It is a version of an 1854 speech. There is also a tribute from a Chief Seattle descendant about the book, included with the book. Also a copy of the announcement of 1992 American Booksellers Book of the Year Award to ‘Brother Eagle, Sister Sky” is included. Also, Susan Jeffers signed the book for our mom, in another seminar. It is a moving book how everyone and everything is intertwined with nature. I like to believe that of our family-connected to one another, even though living far apart from each other.

I have two tiny “Little, Little Golden Books”: “We Help Daddy” and “We help Mommy”. I believe my siblings and I did a good job helping with our parents. Now that they are gone and we have just memories of their teachings, we still have to continue taking care of each other, so I will leave with a few quotes to my brothers and sister:
What do you call a crying sister? A crisis.
What does your little siblings and Q have in common? They will always rely on U.
Giving you the coolest big sibling ever, was my single best gift to you. You’re welcome!
Happy Siblings Day.
