Today is Houseplant Appreciation Day. While I have lots of outdoor plant books, I only own one for indoor plants. It is “How to Grow House Plants: A Colorful Guide to over 400 Varieties” 1978.
I bought this for my new wife, a long time ago. It was in a used bookstore in Waukegan called “the Chaplaincy Bookstore”. A good friend of my mom worked there, and brought me over. I always found wonderful treasures in that bookstore. My favorite plant is the Sansevieria Trifasciata. Some call it as the Snake plant, but I will always fondly know it as the Mother-in-law plant”. Don’t try to read anything into that. I loved my MIL, even sprinkled and fed her regularly with sarcasm and witticisms. We grew to love each other very much. Even earned the title of favorite son-in-law.
